After a lot of time designing & cutting, the groups 1st few stencils have come to life! Once the students tried them out with spray paint, their faces lit up! Check out photos.
We lucked out and had good weather this week for our walking trips. Check out some of the cool art we saw on our walk...
I'm happy to say that a number of my students have been aquiring & purchasing various airbrush equipment to use on their own. I've been carting in compressors, airbrushes & fittings for interested students. I still have 1 more set up, so if you're interested, come see me in room 304.
We'll be taking walking trips to the art supply store on Newark ave this week. Their airbrush supplies are limited, but they do have small bottles of paint for $3.60 each. We're trying to get a discount for students so you may save a little bit. As of last wk. they were out of bottles...I think I'll have to order them online instead. Let me know what you want.
The Urban Art Program now has almost 30 students!! We are working on making silkscreen designs and stencils. I had to order new photo emulsion for the silkscreening b/c the stuff I had from last yr. went bad. Good thing we do lots of fundraisers!
Students are beginning to realize how much time & effort goes into making art...Rashawn kept saying "this is hard...this takes so long.." as he is cutting out his logo stencil with an exacto.
Will update w/ photos soon.

I have to brag about my kids....they did such an awesome job airbrushing tattoos!! Everyone handled the pressure and made lots of customers happy. Thank you to all the teachers who came out and parents, uncles, aunts, who supported us!

I love art and can't imagine my life without it! I've been working with students in Jersey City for the past 13 yrs~ doing what I love. My students inspire me, and I hope I return the inspiration back. ~Ms. Marino
